It is with great sadness that the AHIC wish to announce the passing of legendary Australian veterinarian, Dr Reg Pascoe. Dr Pascoe was one of the founding members of the AHIC (then the National Horse Council of Australia, 1984) and the second President of Equine Veterinarians Australia (1972)
Dr. Pascoe – who was 88 – was one of the world’s leading Equine Surgeons and Dermatologists and he devoted his entire life to veterinary excellence of the highest order.
His love of horses and his deep compassion for them saw him save and transform the lives of both champions and ordinary horses and he gave their owners reason for deep and lasting gratitude.
At the inaugural meeting of the horse council in 1984 Dr Pascoe said “We must realise from its inception that one horseman’s problem is everyone’s problem. As an organisation we must believe that strength can only be obtained through unity.”
The Pascoe family have advised they will hold a private family funeral. This will be followed by a public Memorial Service which will be a celebration of his life.
The memorial service will be held on Sat 16 December, 10.30am at Oakey Cultural Centre, Toowoomba, QLD.
