NSW Department of Primary Industries is considering compulsory identification for horses to improve disease control and traceability, but recognise there could be other benefits, such as reducing horse theft and misrepresentation, improving horse welfare and rider and handler safety.
Your feedback is important in gauging views on the possible compulsory identification of all horses in NSW, for example with a microchip, with these details registered in a central database.
Any other information or advice you can supply will be useful in the consideration of whether this proposal would benefit the NSW and national horse industry.
The survey should take no longer than 15 minutes to complete and the DPI would appreciate having your response by 1 December 2017.
